Pedestrian & Walk Gates
Convenient access for yards, pools, side entrances, pet areas and everyday foot traffic, matched to the surrounding fence system.
Access • Security • Custom Fabrication
From walk gates and residential driveways to heavy-duty commercial cantilever gates, Hooks Fence Company plans gates around the way your property is actually used—including difficult slopes and wide vehicle openings.
Gate Planning
The gate is one of the hardest-working parts of a fence. Width, location, grade, post strength, hardware, vehicle clearance and how often the opening will be used all affect the right design.
Convenient access for yards, pools, side entrances, pet areas and everyday foot traffic, matched to the surrounding fence system.
Wider openings for cars, trucks, trailers, tractors and service equipment. Proper width and support matter for reliable long-term use.
Heavy-duty access solutions for businesses, industrial sites, utility areas and large vehicle entrances, including cantilever slide gates where appropriate.
Standard rectangular gates do not always fit sloped land. We can evaluate grade changes and build a gate layout that fits the property instead of forcing the property to fit the gate.
Blountsville, Alabama • Sloped Property
This Blountsville project shows one of the areas where Hooks Fence Company can separate itself from a standard gate installation. The ground slopes across the opening, so a normal square gate would not have followed the property correctly.
The gate and adjoining chain-link fence were custom built to fit the grade. On sloped sites, clearances, hinge placement, frame geometry and the adjoining fence line all have to be considered together.

Oxford, Alabama • Commercial Access
For a wide commercial entrance, a cantilever gate can slide clear of the driveway without a ground track running across the opening. This Oxford project combines black vinyl-coated chain-link fencing with a heavy-duty sliding gate for vehicle access and perimeter security.
Cantilever systems are especially useful where the opening needs to remain clear for frequent traffic or where a ground track would be inconvenient.

Albertville, Alabama • Industrial Project
This industrial gate in Albertville provides a wide vehicle opening without placing a track across the driveway. Commercial gate projects often require stronger posts, heavier framing and hardware selected for the size and frequency of use.
Hooks Fence Company can coordinate the gate design with the surrounding chain-link fence so access, security and durability are planned as one system.

Built in Our Gate Shop • Heavy-Duty Upgrade
For gates that need more strength and rigidity than a conventional wood frame, Hooks Fence Company can fabricate heavy-duty steel gate frames in our own gate shop. These frames use 2-inch square steel tubing and can provide a strong structural foundation for wood privacy gates and other custom gate applications.

Before finishing: A custom 2-inch square-tubing gate frame fabricated by Hooks Fence Company, showing the steel structure before the fence material is added.

Finished frame: A black-finished 2-inch square-tubing frame ready for fence material and installation.
Large wood gates place substantial weight on the frame, hinges and posts. A fabricated steel frame can help provide a more rigid structure where strength is a priority and can reduce the tendency of a large wood-framed gate to sag or twist over time.

Residential Access • Galvanized & Black Vinyl
Hooks Fence Company installs residential chain-link gates in multiple heights, widths and finishes, including galvanized and black vinyl-coated options. From standard walk gates to wider access gates, we match the gate to the fence, opening and intended use. When a standard gate is not the right solution, we can move into heavier custom fabrication for larger or more demanding openings.

Galvanized residential gates: Multiple gate sizes ready for residential chain-link fence projects and everyday yard access.

Black vinyl-coated option: A residential chain-link gate that coordinates with black vinyl-coated fencing for a finished appearance.
Heavy-Duty Support • Gates & Commercial Work
Not every fence or gate should be built with the same post. Hooks Fence Company can use heavier 4×6 and 6×6 pressure-treated wood posts where additional strength and support are appropriate, including large gates and demanding commercial applications.
We match the post and framing to the job rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

Choosing the Right Gate
Swing gates are a practical choice for many residential, agricultural and commercial entrances when there is enough clear space for the gate leaf to open without interfering with traffic or terrain.
Cantilever gates slide sideways and can be a strong solution for wide commercial or industrial openings. They avoid a track across the driveway and can preserve the full opening for vehicles and equipment.
The best choice depends on opening width, available side room, grade, traffic, fence material and how the gate will be used.

Questions
Yes. Some sloped openings require a custom gate rather than a standard rectangular frame. The Blountsville project on this page is an example of a gate built to fit the grade of the property.
A cantilever gate slides sideways and is supported without a ground track across the driveway opening. It is commonly used for wide commercial, industrial and other vehicle entrances.
Yes. Hooks Fence Company installs pedestrian and vehicle gates as part of appropriate wood, chain-link, ornamental, vinyl and agricultural fence projects.
The right width depends on the vehicles and equipment that need access, approach angle, property layout and available space. It is best to plan the gate around actual use rather than choosing a width by appearance alone.
